Research and Robots
The students began the year by forming teams. These teams learned to research oceanography subjects on the internet and create electronic lab journals. They began to build ROV's similar to the ones used at sea by oceanographers for later testing and deployment by the student builders.

Sand Lab
In the sand lab, students looked at sand samples from various beaches, deserts, and deep ocean sites from around the world. There is an astounding variety between sands from different areas. Their studies in the sand lab helped the students to understand beach and coastal processes.
