Dr. David Nelson's Cruise |
||
The first research cruise that the students will follow in the 2005 school year is the Nelson Cruise which will study plankton and their effect on CO2 in the atmosphere in a seawater upwelling zone near the equator. Their teacher, Mrs. Brice, will participate in this cruise from Honolulu, Hawaii to San Diego, California (see map below). She will stay in contact with her students via satellite to explain the research being conducted to her classes, to answer their questions, to assist in their related lessons, and to send photographs. The students will also participate in live at-sea, two-way discussion broadcasts with Mrs. Brice and ship-board scientists.
