2004-2005 School Year Activities

The new year will begin with the students forming learning teams. They will immediately started working on activities related to ocean atmosphere, exploration, and the tools of oceanography and to record their lessons in electronic lab journals.

They will begin the 2005-2006 year by following the cruise of their teacher, Mrs. Brice, as she journeys to the region of the equator near Hawaii to observe studies in ocean plankton, upwelling and their effect on carbon in the atmosphere and global weather. They will communicate with their teacher during this cruise via the HighSeasNet satellite communication system, made possible by representatives of Scripps Institution of Oceanography. (Check the Live At-Sea Broadcasts page for details).

Field Trips
The students will tour the research vessel Roger Revelle and others at the Nimitz Marine Facility in Point Loma, California to experience the conditions in which research at sea is conducted. Photos of their field trips will be posted in the Students' Photo Album.
